ITF and ITUC give guarded welcome to Iran releases

Iranian trade unionists Davood Razavi and Ebrahim Madadi

21 May 2015 -IranSOS- The ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) and ITUC (International Trade Union Confederation) have given a guarded welcome to the news that Iranian trade unionists Davood Razavi and Ebrahim Madadi have been released on bail. The men had been imprisoned earlier this month.
Their release from custody follows protests to the Iranian government by both organisations (see http://goo.gl/khlG5s) and a Labourstart campaign demanding their freedom (see http://goo.gl/WrEb1S). The ITF and ITUC continue to campaign for the dismissal of the trumped up charges made against the men for carrying out lawful trade union activities, as well as for the release of Mahmoud Salehi. A member of the Coordinating Committee to Help Form Workers’ Organizations, he is believed to still be in custody.
