Report: Child Refugees Face Obstacles in EU, Iran

June 23, 2015 – VOA News – An international rights organization has called on European Union nations to better provide for children from Afghanistan, Syria, and other nations seeking asylum in Europe. Human Rights Watch released a report saying many children who have fled Afghanistan to avoid recruitment by the Taliban or conscription by the Syrian army are traveling alone to refugee centers, where they can be held for weeks while awaiting space in children’s shelters.

China-Russia disgraceful Veto in the Security Council blocks ICC Referral of the Syrian Situation

22 May 2014 – FIDH – In a disgraceful move, Russia and China vetoed no less than accountability in Syria today at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) by rejecting an unprecedented resolution proposed by France and Lithuania referring the situation to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Syria: The International Community must act now. Horror must be investigated

Last Update 22 August 2013 – Appalled by the deadly bombardments that reportedly took place in Ghouta, near the Syrian capital Damascus, on August 21st, 2013, FIDH is calling for an immediate, thorough and impartial international investigation into the mass killings and the alleged use of chemical weapons. 

According to the Syrian opposition, more than 1300 people would have been killed in the attack.
