Iran Executed 6 of 10 People Sentenced to Death in Kurdistan

Iranian – January 17, 2014 – The Centre for Supporters of Human Rights reports on four Kurdish prisoners on death row in Ghezel Hesar Prison who have been on hunger strike for more than a staggering two months. They are reportedly refusing food in protest to their detention and death sentences. Their names are: Jamshid and Jahangir Dehgani (brothers), Hamed Ahmadi and Kamal Molayee.

I. INTRODUCTION – The change of administration in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) and taking of office by a new president on 3 August 2013 has not brought any change as far as the death penalty is concerned. Between the 14 June presidential election and 1st October, more than 200 people have been reportedly executed, including possibly four people who may have been younger than 18 at the time of the commission of the alleged crimes.[1]
