{"id":1666,"date":"2020-09-23T11:27:55","date_gmt":"2020-09-23T11:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1666"},"modified":"2020-09-24T11:39:57","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T11:39:57","slug":"sotoudeh-transferred-from-hospital-back-to-prison-despite-serious-heart-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1666","title":{"rendered":"Sotoudeh Transferred from Hospital Back to Prison Despite Serious Heart Condition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iransos.com\/en\/photo\/2011\/n\/nasrin-setodeh-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"564\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Urgent Concerns Over Health of Human Rights Attorney Six Weeks into Her Hunger Strike <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">September 23, 2020\u2014The prominent civil rights lawyer\u00a0Nasrin Sotoudeh, who was hospitalized for a serious heart condition and has been on hunger strike for more than 40 days, was transferred back to Evin Prison today, the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI) has learned.<!--more-->Her family remains in the dark about the details of her heart condition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe were prevented from meeting with her and discussing her situation with her while she was in the hospital,\u201d her husband Reza Khandan told CHRI on September 23, 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI just found out she has been released and taken by security forces out of the hospital in a way that we could not see her during this process. I believe she is being taken back to Evin. She is extremely weak due to her continued hunger strike. I suspect they have taken her to the Evin medical clinic given her dire situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CHRI is extremely concerned about Sotoudeh\u2019s health and safety and holds the Iranian authorities fully responsible for her wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSotoudeh\u2019s family has every right to know the details of her heart condition and must have access to her to be fully informed about her health and safety. The secrecy and lack of accountability by Iranian authorities is outrageous and unlawful,\u201d CHRI\u2019s Executive Director Hadi Ghaemi said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nasrin Sotoudeh is currently serving a 38-year sentence at Evin Prison for her peaceful work defending basic civil and political rights in Iran, 12 years of which she must serve before becoming eligible for parole.
