{"id":1251,"date":"2018-03-20T18:34:21","date_gmt":"2018-03-20T18:34:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2018-03-20T18:34:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-20T18:34:21","slug":"nowruz-pirouz-trump-challenges-iranian-government-in-persian-new-year-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1251","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Nowruz Pirouz\u2019: Trump challenges Iranian government in Persian new year message"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/iransos.com\/en\/photo\/2011\/d\/donald-trump-3.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" \/>By\u00a0Dave Boyer\u00a0&#8211; The Washington Times &#8211; Monday, March 19, 2018<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President\u00a0Trump\u00a0delivered a blistering criticism of Iran\u2019s regime Monday in a message marking Nowruz, the Persian new year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While noting that Iran is historically a proud nation with a strong culture,\u00a0Mr. Trump\u00a0said Iranians today are grappling with \u201crulers who serve themselves instead of serving the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->\u201cTwenty-five centuries ago, Darius the Great asked God to protect Iran from three dangers: hostile armies, drought, and falsehood,\u201d the president said. \u201cToday, the Iranian regime\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps represents all three.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the corrupt IRGC \u201cbrutalizes and steals from the Iranian people to fund terrorism\u201d in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMeanwhile, the average Iranian family is 15 percent poorer today than it was 10 years ago, and nearly 30 percent of Iran\u2019s youth are unemployed,\u201d the president said. \u201cOrdinary Iranians struggle economically and find it difficult to celebrate holidays like Nowruz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A year ago,\u00a0Mr. Trump\u2019s first Nowruz greeting was brief, and it didn\u2019t mention the failings of the Iranian government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But this year,\u00a0Mr. Trump\u00a0said of Iran, \u201cdeceit has become official state policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe IRGC employs propaganda and censorship to hide the fact that the Iranian regime plunders Iran\u2019s wealth and abuses its people,\u201d he said. \u201cTo hide the truth, Iran\u2019s rulers suppress their own citizens\u2019 rights to free assembly, access to information, and equal opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said Iranians are rebelling against the oppression and \u201clong for a springtime of hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe United States stands with the Iranian people in their aspirations to connect to the wider world and have a responsible and accountable government that truly serves their nation\u2019s interests,\u201d\u00a0Mr. Trump\u00a0said. \u201cOn behalf of the American people, may light prevail over darkness in this New Year, and may the Iranian people soon enjoy a new day of peace, prosperity, and joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He concluded his message, \u201cNowruz Pirouz (Happy Nowruz).\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Dave Boyer\u00a0&#8211; The Washington Times &#8211; Monday, March 19, 2018 President\u00a0Trump\u00a0delivered a blistering criticism of Iran\u2019s regime Monday in a message marking Nowruz, the Persian new year.
