{"id":1242,"date":"2018-03-06T16:20:47","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T16:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1242"},"modified":"2018-03-07T16:26:44","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T16:26:44","slug":"attorney-irans-judiciary-is-denying-alireza-golipour-urgent-medical-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iransos.com\/en\/?p=1242","title":{"rendered":"Attorney: Iran\u2019s Judiciary is Denying Alireza Golipour Urgent Medical Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/iransos.com\/en\/photo\/2011\/a\/alireza-golipour.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alireza Golipour<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">MARCH 6, 2018 &#8211; CHRI &#8211; Alireza Golipour\u00a0requires a heart procedure at a hospital but judicial authorities have refused to grant him\u00a0furlough\u00a0for medical leave from Evin Prison in Tehran, his lawyer told the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have warned the judicial authorities, including the prosecutor and the case judge, about Mr. Golipour\u2019s critical condition but they have not paid any attention.\u00a0Tomorrow\u00a0I don\u2019t want them to tell me that my client has committed suicide because he\u2019s not the kind to do that and the judiciary will have blood on its hands if anything happens to him as a result of cardiac arrest,\u201d attorney Azita Gharehbeyglou told CHRI on March 2, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMy client is in critical condition,\u201d said Gharehbeyglou. \u201cOn Tuesday\u00a0night [February 27], he got really sick and his cellmates begged him to go to the clinic but he refused. At\u00a04 am\u00a0on Wednesday\u00a0he had a seizure and heart problems and he was taken to the clinic. His cellmates contacted me and said he had suffered a heart attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Furlough, temporary leave typically granted to prisoners in Iran for a variety of familial, holiday, and medical reasons, is routinely denied to political prisoners as a form of additional punishment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arrested by Iran\u2019s Intelligence Ministry in September 2012,\u00a0Golipour, 31, is serving a 12-year prison sentence for the charges of \u201cspying for foreigners,\u201d \u201csympathizing\u201d with the banned Mojahedin-e Khalgh (MEK) organization, \u201cinsulting the supreme leader,\u201d \u201cdisturbing public order\u201d and \u201cacting against national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has admitted to passing information to US officials about Iran\u2019s Natanz nuclear power site, Gharehbeyglou said in an\u00a0interview\u00a0with CHRI in May 2016.
