Tehran, Iran, Sep. 13 – A young man was hanged in public in the southern town of Kazeroun, in Fars Province, for a crime he had committed when he was a minor, a state-run daily reported on Tuesday.

The unidentified man was 22 years old and from the
village of Doost-Iran-Nodan. He had been found guilty of rape in the year 2000 when he was 17 years of age, the daily Etemaad wrote.

He was hanged in public in
Shohada Square at 8 am on Monday.
