22 March 2013 – The United Nations Human Rights Council renewed today the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Mr Ahmed Shaheed, with an unprecedented majority. Twenty-six countries voted for the renewal of the mandate, 17 countries abstained and only 2 countries voted against it.

(Beirut, London, Paris, 13 February 2013) - The Iranian authorities should immediately release from arbitrary house arrest two former presidential candidates Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hossein Mousavi, his wife Zahra Rahnavard, author and political activist, and cease harassing or detaining without cause the couple’s two daughters and Mehdi Karroubi’s son, said the Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi and six leading human rights bodies.

The United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) has just concluded that the detention of lawyer and founding member of the Defenders of Human Rights Centre (DHRC) Abdolfattah Soltani is arbitrary, and requested the Iranian Government to release him immediately.
New Wave of Harassment Sees Six Family Members Threatened, Questioned (December 20, 2012) The Iranian Judiciary and Intelligence agencies must immediately stop harassing the family members of journalists working abroad and ensure that security forces put an end to extrajudicial mistreatment, intimidation, and official misconduct, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran said today.
