In this report a little part of the human rights violations instances in Iran has been compiled

Student News

1) The Daftar-e-Tahkim-e Vahdat central council on the occasion of the last days of the year announced; student disciplinary committees have issued verdicts for 300 students. The supervisory committee on student publication has banned 57 student magazines. The University Supervisory Committee has also dissolved or suspended 35 student formations. 17 undergraduate students were deprived from education and there were forced retirements for university professors. . Student: Summoned and interrogated in courts

2) Saeed Ghorbanian and Hasan Saminfar the Sabzevar university students were summoned to the province revolutionary court. (Ilna.2007 Feb.23)

3) Hamed Iranshahi the member of the Daftar-e-Tahkim-e Vahdat central council was summoned to the Arak province penal court branch no.101 under the charge of insulting and publishing lies. (Advar News.2007.Mar.5)

Students: issued sentences

4) Mohammad Kazemi the economy University student was sentenced to having written reprimands in his educational dossiers with the charge of writing articles in his personal web log. (Advar news. 2007.Feb.20)

5) Mohammad Reza Rahimirad the Yazd University student was sentenced to paying pecuniary punishment He was charged with insulting the authorities (Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

6) Hamid Malekzadeh the Tehran university student was sentenced to one semester educational deprivation. He was charged with taking part in student’s day ceremony. (Isna.2007.Feb.25)

7) The expulsion sentence of Matin Meshkin the AmirKabir university student was confirmed in the revision committee of the university. (Ilna.2007.Feb.25)

8) Abbas Hakimzadeh the student activist of the Amir Kabir University was sentenced to two semesters’ education and university facility deprivation till the end of his studying period. (Isna.2007.Mar.13)

9) Babak Zamanian the member of the Amir Kabir student Islamic Association was sentenced to one semester education deprivation. Also 6 other students were summoned to the disciplinary committee.(Amir Kabir.Weblog.2007.Feb.13)

Bans on student publications:

10) The Student Publication ”Farvardin” with the editor in charge of Kazem Rezai was banned under the order of the supervisory committee on student publications with the charge of publishing lies. (Ilna, 2007.Mar.3)

11) The Student Publication” Ketab-e-Pedar” with the editor in charge of Saeed Shirshahi was banned for 3 months under the order of the supervisory committee on student publications in Ahvaz university with the charge of publishing lies. (Isna, 2007.Mar.12)

Preventions on student formation:

12) Making speech of Dr.Mosa Ganinejad and Mohammad Bagher Nobakht in Tehran University was annulled (Ilna.207.Mar.3)

13) The Board Overseeing Student Groups banned the activities of the Zanjan University Students’ Islamic Association under the accusation of disturbing order and not obeying the laws. (Ilna.2007.Mar.6)

14) With the order of the Amir Kabir university headmaster the clubs building of this university was ruined: there were 11 clubs in this building: cultural club, movie and photo club, theatre club, book club, music club and... .(Amir Kabir.2007.Mar.19)

Bans on Films, Books, Websites, and Civil Organizations:

15) The Iranian writers club announced: their site is also obstructed like many other sites and this only means of communication between the members is no longer valid. They also demanded the release o the political prisoners and removing the death penalty sentence. (Advar news.2007.Feb.25)

16) The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance cancelled the renewed publishing permit of the books “ the three drops of blood”,” man and animal”, “ Khayam Sadegh”, and ‘ the Iranan vulgar culture ” written by Sadegh Hedayat.(Isna.2007.Feb.27)

17) The civil organisation ‘Koneshgaran-e-Davtalab” established by the former Tabatabai university professor was inspected and plumbed by the security guards. Also Dr.Sohrab Razaghi’ house was detected by the security guards. (Advar news.2007.Mar.15)

18) Th legal organisation Rahi leaded by Shadi Sadr the attorney and woman right activist was inspected and plumbed by the security guards. (Meidan.2007. Mar.15)

19) Ali Farahbakhsh, a journalist of the banned Sharq Daily and a member of the Journalists’ Guild, was arrested at the airport on 25 Nov. returning from a conference. He was interrogated at Tehran’s Revolutionary court. (Ilna.2007.Mar 20)

The Press and Journalists:

20) The day-book of the Taban magazine, published in Ghazvin province was attacked. Mohammad Alikhani the chief in charge of the magazine is the member of minority of the Islamic assembly fraction. (Noandish.2007.Feb.28)

21) Mostafa Kavakebian the editor in charge of the Mardom Salari Magazine announced in a debate: we no the people problems but under the order of the supreme committee of the nation security we can not reflect them.

22) Mohammad Javad Haghshenas the editor in chare of the Etemad Magazine said; we were reprimanded of titling the Mr. Velayati’s speech. (Ilna.2007.Feb.28)

23) Rajab Ali Mazroi the journalist’s trade union head said: in 2006-2007 more than 20 magazines were banned under the supervisor committee on presses order and their harsh treatment for giving publishing permit is obvious. (Ilna.2007.Mar.12)

24) Mashallah Shamsalvaezin the spokes man of the press liberty defence committee said: in 2006 there were more than 3000 applicant for journal permission but this permission is just for special persons. He added in this year 30 to 35 magazines were banned and 3000 journalists were unemployed and 120 journalists were interrogated. (Ilna.2007.Mar.12)

25) Mansor Tifori the member of the editorial staff of the banned magazine Ashti and Gofteman-e-no was arrested in Marivan province by the security guards. (Ilna.2007.Mar.13)

26) The Payam-e Kordestan Magazine with the editor in charge of Ardeshi Sadraldini was baned and its permission was nullified and his editorial staff member Soleman Bayazidi was treated to death.( Kurdistan’s Human Rights Organization. 2007.Mar.11)

27) Mohammad Bagher Samli the chief in charge of the Salam Jonoob magazine was arrested with the chare of insulting the Muslims prophet The magazine was banned and the day-book was plumbed.(Ilna.2007.Mar.12)

Journalists Summoned to Court

28) The editors in charge of the magazines Iran, Etemad, Asrar, Sobh-e Zendegi and Honar-e- Ashpazi were summoned to the branch no.76 of the Tehran penal court for interrogation. (Ilna.2007.Feb.26)

29) Abdarasool Vesal the editor in charge of the Ayandeh-e- no magazine was summoned to the branch no.7 of the government employee court. He was charged with before date propaganda for the election and publishing lies. (Ilna.2007.Feb.28)

30) Mohammad Javad Haghshenas and Mostafa Kavakebian the editors in charge of the Etemad-e-Meli and Mardom Salari magazines were summoned to the branch no.7 of the government employee court. They were charged with publishing lies for disturbing public opinion. (Ilna.2007.Mar.7)

Journalists interrogated

31) Soleiman Soleimani the chief in charge of the RougeHelat magazine was interrogated in Kordestan province penal court with the charge of acting against the national security. (Ilna.2007.Mar.2)

Journalists trialed

32) Ali Farahbakhsh,the Shargh magazine journalist was tried in Tehran’s Penal Court Branch 6 under the accusation of spying. He was in prison for last 3 months. (Isna.2007.Feb.24)

33) Mohammad Reza Khatami, the chief in charge of the banned daily Moshaarekat, was tried in Tehran public Court Branch no.1083 with the charge of propaganda against the state, publishing lies, calumniating the authorities, the organs and insulting. (Isna.2007.Mar.4)

34) Gholam Hossein Eslamifar the former chief in charge of the daily Iran was tried in branch no.76 of Tehran public court. .He was charged with publishing lies (Ilna.2007. Mar.11)

35) Leila PoorYousefi the chief in charge of the Sobh-e-Zendegi magazine was tried in branch no.76 of Tehran public court. She was charged with publishing obscene pictures. (Ilna.2007.Mar.11)

36) Elyas Hazrati, the chief in charge of the banned daily Etemad was tried in Tehran penal Court Branch no.76 with the charge of publishing lies, calumniating and insulting the authorities (Ilna.2007.Mar.11)

Sentences issued by courts

37) Davood Bahrami Siyavoshani the chief in charge, of banned daily Payam-e Azadi, was tried at Branch 1083 of Tehran’s Public Court. He was charged with publishing lies for disturbing public opinion and calumny. He was sentenced to pay a $500 monetary fine and was banned from journalistic activities for a year. (Isna.2007.Feb.28)

38) Manijeh Zibai the chief in charge, of the Shokoh Azadi magazine was tried at Branch no.2 of Ilam Penal Court. She was charged with publishing lies and articles against the Islamic basis. She was sentenced to pay a $200 monetary fine (Irna.2007.Mar.1)

39) Mehdi Rahmanian the chief in charge, of the Shargh magazine was tried at Branch no.76 of Tehran Penal Court. He was charged with publishing lies and articles against the Islamic basis, blasphemy, insulting Islam and insulting the president and propaganda against the state. He was sentenced to pay a $900 monetary fine (Ilna. 2007.Mar.11)

40) Gholam Hossein Karbaschi the chief in charge, of the banned magazine Hammian was tried at Branch no.1083 of Tehran penal Court. He was charged with calumniating authorities and was sentenced to pay a $500 monetary fine (Ilna.2007.Mar.12)

41) The publishing permit of the banned magazine Bonyan was nullified in Tehran penal court no.1083.Mohsen Ashrafi the chief in charge of the magazine was charged with publishing lies for disturbing public opinion and insulting authorities and was sentenced to $1000 monetary fine. Political, Cultural, Social Activists

42) Nahid Sayadat ,Hassan Sarahi’s wife, the editor of the Ayatollah Taleghani ‘s publishing announced that his husband is missed for more than 10 months and the efforts for finding him was with out success. (Ilna.2007.Feb.25)

43) Dr. Alireza Rajai the university professor and a national-religious activist was arrested after coming back from a trip to U.S. His exit from the country boarder is prohibited. (Sarmayeh.2007.Feb.26)

44) Mashallah Shamsalvaezin the press liberty defence committee secretary‘s making speech in Gorgan province was nullified and the participant in the meeting were beaten by the Ansar Hezbollah. (Isna.2007.Feb.27)

45) Nasrin Sotoodeh, the human right activist and the attorney of some women movement activists said: in a gathering in font of the revolutionary court I was witness that the security guards had beaten the women and arrested them. She mentioned 30 female activists were released but during the last 48 hours 7 activists were threaten again. (Advar news.2007.Mar.9)

Political, Cultural, Social Activists Summoned to Courts

46) Ali Akbar Mosavi Khoiniha was summoned to Tehran Revolutionary Court, Branch no.14 with the charge of participating in 12 June’s gathering. He was detained for the same charge before and was released on 150,000 $ bail. (Ilna.2007.Feb.26)

47) Mohammad Reza Vatani, one of the Gonabadi Dervishes of the Yazd Province was summoned to the province revolutionary court with the charge of propaganda against the security of the state. . (Ilna.2007.Feb.27)

48) Akbar Alami the Tabriz province representative in the Islamic assembly was summoned to the government employee court with the charge of spreading lies, insulting and calumniating related to the June events in Azerbaijan province, with the head of the Basij organization complaint. (Ilna.2007.Mar.4)

49) Nasrin Sotoodeh the ministry of justice attorney said: in last 48 hours Homa Madah,Mansoreh Shojai, Farnaz Seifi, Khadijeh Moghadam, Parisa Kakai,Bita Tahbaz and Mona Mohammadzadeh were summoned to the Tehran security office (Zanestan.2007.Mar.7)

50) The secure guards had broken the Sara Loghmani’s house padlock and hand inspected the house. They have also confiscated bita Tahbaz‘s cell phone. (Advarnews.2007.Mar.8)

51) Nasrin Sotoodeh the ministry of justice attorney said: the families of Mansoreh Shojai and Farnaz Seifi, the women right’s activists, were also summoned to court. She also mentioned during the woman’s day gathering in Tehran 10 women were arrested, 9 of them are released but one is still in prison. (Ilna.2007.Mar.10)

52) Azadeh Forghani who was arrested in 12 June gathering in Tehran was summoned to the branch no.15 of the revolutionary court, with the charge of acting against the security of state. (Ilna.2007.Mar.11)

53) Dr.Parviz Mohammadi the Naghadeh university professor was summoned to the province revolutionary court. (Kurdistan’s Human Rights Organization.2007.Mar.11)

54) Hesmatallah Tabarzadi and Mohammad Masod Salamati the members of the Iranian Democrat committee were summoned to the revolutionary court and ministry of security and were threatened. (Political prisoners’ committee.2007.Mar.15)

55) Majid Evar was summoned to the branch no.2 of the Mahabad revolutionary court .He was charged with collaborating with Kurd opposition. (Mokerian weblog.2007.Mar.17)

Political, Cultural, Social Activists: Trialed

Fariba Davoodi Mohajer, Noshin Ahmadi, Parvin Ardalan,Shahla Entesari and Sosan Tahmaseb the women right activists were tried in branch no.6 of the Tehran revolutionary court. They were charged with participating in the 12 June gathering in Tehran, acting against the security of the state. (Ilna.2007Mar.4)

56) Khaled Ghobadi, member of the Kurdistan’s Human Rights Organization was arrested in Kermanshah province. (Kurdistan’s Human Rights Organization.2007.Feb.21)

57) The security guards have attacked a peaceful gathering in Zanjan province with the occasion of the mother tongue day and have arrested some of them. The arrested names are as follow:

58) Saeed Matinpoor ,jalil Ghanilo, Hossein Rahmati ,AliReza Matinpoor, Ali Rahmati, Morteza Moradi ,Mohsen Rafiee, Elnaz Nemati, Davood Nemati ,Mahmod MOhajeri, Aidin Moghadam, Rahmatallah Bayat Tabar, Yousef Mohammadi ,Amir Nasiri ,Behrooz Safari, Mohammad Mohammadi, Iraj Mohamadi and Karim Jalili.(Advarnews.2007.Feb.22)

59) The security guards have attacked peaceful gathering in Oromiyeh, Miyandoab, Ardebil, Tabriz, Meshkin Shahr and Khoy provinces with the occasion of the mother tongue day and have arrested some of them. Most of them were released on bail. (Azerbaijan political prisoners defend committee)

60) Arash Bahmani, Babak Mehdizadeh and Kohzad Esmaili the members of the Islamic Iranian students were arrested by the Gilan province security guards. (Ilna.007.Feb.25)

61) Somayeh Bayenat, Ahmad Batebi’s wife was arrested in Gorgan Province for 3 days. (Amir Kabir Weblog.2007.Feb.25)

62) 36 women’s right activists who were gathered in front of the revolutionary court were arrested by the security guards. It is as follow their names: Parasto Sarmadi,Saghar Laghai, Khadijeh Moghadam, Saghi Laghi,Nahid Keshavarz , Nahid keshavarz, Mahnaz Mohamadi, Nasrin Afzali, Talat Taghiniya,Fakhri Shadfar,Maryam Shadfar,Elnaz Ansari,Fatemeh Govarai,Azadeh Forghani,Somayeh Farid, Mino Mortazi, Sara Imanian, Nahid Jafari, Sosan Tahmasebi, Parvin Ardalan, Noshin Ahmadi, Farideh Entesari, Nahid Entesari, Shahla Entesari and Shadi Sadr. 63) Negar Asadzadeh and Mehdi Amizesh the Azad university students were arrested for participating in teachers gathering in front of the Islamic assembly. They were released on bail. (8mars weblog.2007.Mar.8)

64) Bahareh Hedayat the women commission secretary of the Daftar Tahkim-e-Vahdat said: at least 10 women participating in the gathering in front of the Islamic assembly were arrested by the security guards. It is as follow their names:Gita Ahmadi,Samaneh Moradiyan, Maral Farokhi, mona Feizbakhsh,and Nahid Noroozi. They were released after one day. (Advarnews.2007.Mar.9)

65) Women’s day ceremony was banned in Sanandaj province by the security guards and some participants were arrested. Some of them were released the day after but 5 persons (named below) are still in detention: Aso Saleh, Roya Tadaun, Peiman Nemati ,Elyas Karimi ,and Salah Zamani.(Ilna.2007.Mar.10)

66) Shirzad Hajilo the secretary of the Orin organization was arrested by the security guards in Khoy province. (Hagh weblog.2007.Mar.11)

67) Hasan Karami the security guard chief of the western Azerbaijan province said; 207of the partisans and main executives of the “anti-revolution groups” are arrested.63 of them were the main factors. (Fars.2007.Mar.13)

68) Some teachers who were gathered in front of the Islamic assembly were arrested by the security guards in Tehran and Kermanshah.

69) Porvosoogh the secretary of the teachers’ trade union said: unfortunately we don’t have any exact number of the arrested teachers but the due date for making release the 44 of them is by the end of the Norooz vacation.(Ilna.2007.Mar.18)

70) Zakariya Abasi the member of the Kermanshah teachers’ trade union and Ghodrat Allah Esmaili a high schoolteacher were arrested by the security guards. (mokerian web log 2007.Mar.18)

71) Mahbobeh Abasgholi and Shadi Sadr the women right activists after 16 days detention were released on 250,000$ and 200,000$ bails. (Meidan .2007.Mar.19).

Political, Cultural, Social Activists: Sentences issued by Courts

72) Saeed Derakhshandi and Abolfazl Jahandar the student activists were each sentenced to three and two and a half years in prison by Tehran Revolutionary Court Branch no.6.They were charged with insulting the authorities, acting against the security of the state, making illegal gathering.(Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

73) Keivan Ansari the member of the Iranian students’ organization was sentenced to 3/5 years imprisonment in Tehran revolutionary court branch no.6, under the accusation of acting against the public security, propaganda against the security of the state and insulting the authorities. (Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

74) Hojat Al Islam Jahanshahi, was sentenced to 3 months and a day imprisonment under the accusation of having an openly campaign against the landed in Sirjan province.15 of his supporters were also arrested by the security guards. (Aftab.2007.Mar.3)

75) Logman Rashi who was in Mahabad prison for the last year, was sentenced to 6 years imprisonments. He was charged with collaborating with a Kurd party of the opposition. (Mokerian Web log .2007.Mar.8)

76) .Hamid Rahgozar the member of the Iranian students organization was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment in Hamedan revolutionary court branch no.1, under the accusation of acting against the public security and the government.(Ilna.2007.Mar.13)

77) .Mostafa Avazpoor the activist of the Azerbaijan national movement was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment in Tabriz revolutionary court, under the accusation of pan Turkism and propaganda against the state. He was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment before. (Hagh Web log.2007.Mar.19)

78) SalahAldin Alai the representative of the Saghez and Baneh in sixth assembly was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment in branch no.1 of the government employee court. He was charged with breaking out with the security guards in the assembly. (Kurdistan’s Human Rights Organization.2007.Mar.20)

Political Prisoners

79) Miad Bayenat said: Ahmad Batebi is in a food strike after hearing the arrestment news of his wife. Somayeh Bayenat, his wife, was active in informing his situation and attempting for his release (B.B.C.2007.Feb.23)

80) Mohammad Ebrahimi, the religious book writer and member of the ‘Right and Justice’ organisation is kept in 209 jails for a year. He was arrested in 2002 and was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment in Karaj revolutionary court. (Human rights activists in Iran. 2007. Feb.26)

81) Most of prisoners in Ahvaz province are deprived the rights of having lawyer and having open court with jury Most of them were kept in the hidden Sepah jails or in the individual cellules in Sepidar or Karoon prisons in Ahvaz province .They were under torture for several months.

82) Khaled Hardani,Shahram and Farhang PoorMansoori were transferred to Rajai Shahr prison overnight from Evin Prison. As an objection they went on a strike. They are under the death penalty sentence for committing Hijack. (Student committee of the human right reporters.2007.Mar.8)

83) Seid Mohammad Kazemi Brojerdi was in a food strike in Evin prison for two weeks as an objection to the arrestment of his wife and son. (Bam Azadi Web log.2007.Mar.9)

Worker situation

84) 25 labourers of the Pars Cartoon Company in Ghazvin province were fired. (Ilna.2007.Feb.21)

85) “1500 municipality workers of the Kerman province have not received their pays for the past four months. (Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

86) “400 labourers of Metal Industries Co.no.2 in Tehran have not received their pays for the past three months.” (Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

87) Labourers of Kashan Makhmal-e- abrisham Company have not received their pays for several months (Ilna.2007.Feb.23)

88) Kaghaz Karoon Company in Shoshtar province is closed over a year and its 170 workers have not received their pays for 10 months. ( Ilna, 2007.Feb.23)

89) Labourers working at Sazmayeh Company have not received their pays for last three years.” (Ilna. 2007.Feb.23)

90) Mansoor Aslanloo, syndicate chief of the Tehran bus driving firm, was tried in Tehran revolutionary court branch no.14.He was charged with propaganda against the state and acting against the public security. (Ilna. 2007. Feb.24)

91) 700 labourers of Khozestan province Tube Pipe industry have not received their pays for three months (Ilna.2007.Feb.24)

92) 250 labourers in Lorestan province have not received their pays for eight months (Ilna.2007.Feb.24)

93) 200 labourers of Naghsh Iran Company, 80 labourers of the Ghoveh Pars Company and some workers of the Kelaj Company in Ghazvin province have not received their pays for five months (Ilna. 2007.Feb.24)

94) Labourers of the Oromiyeh province, Ajor-e-Machin Company have not received their pays for three to seven months (Ilna.2007.Feb.25)

95) The head of the Hossein nejad contract work company in Tabass province is forbearing to pay the 20 municipality workers. (Ilna.2007.Feb.25)

96) 150 labourers of the Khoram Abad province, refrigerator industry have not received their pays for three months (Ilna.2007.Feb.26)

97) 20 labourers of the Yazd province, Folad-e-cousin industry have not received their pays for ten months 70 workers of this company were fired this year. (Ilna.2007.Feb.26)

98) 15 labourers of the Mahabad province, Arz Gostar Company were fired. They have not received their pays for three months (Ilna.2007.Feb.26)

99) 24 labours of the Pakdasht province sand company were fired. (Ilna.2007.Feb.28)

100) 1500 labours of the Ziggurat company in Ilam province have not received their pays for 6 months.(Ilna.2007.Feb.28)

101) 72 labourers of the Ghoveh Pars Company have not received their pays for 8 months. These workers were gathered in front of the worker’s house of the Gazvin province in protest (Ilna.2007.Feb.28)

102) 295 labours of the Chit sazi industry in Behshahr province have not received their pays for 6 months. The industry have had 1760 workers before, but most of them were fired or retired.(Ilna.2007.Mar.2)

103) The knitting industry Maryam was shut down and its 100 workers were fired. (Ilna.2007.Mar.2)

104) 18 contract workers of the Tabas Air port have not received their pays for 5 months. (Ilna.2007.Mar.2)

105) 600 labours of the Tabarestan knitting industry have not received their pays for 5 months. (Ilna.2007.Mar.3)

106) The modern electronic company in Damavand province had sent out 200 workers. The errant labours of the company have not received their pays for 9 months. (Ilna.2007.Mar.3)

107) 30 contractor company of the Khomeini Hospital have not paid the workers’ salary for 9 months.. (Ilna.2007.Mar.3)
